Title: Internet Explorer
Post by: exessexgirl on Thursday 16 August 12 14:20 BST (UK)
Hi all
I am using Internet Explorer version 8. Quite often for no reason a message will come up saying Internet explorer has stopped, and is restarting. Can anyone let me know why this would keep happening.
Many thanks .. Lyn

Try another browser?

I have been using Firefox for a number of years now.
Always appears to be faster?

And, in any case, I try to avoid Gatesware!! ;D ;D

One of the reasons for misbehaviour of Internet Explorer is the presence of malware or viruses.   Before changing to another browser, it would be wise to double check that this isn't the cause !

Hi everyone
Many thanks for the replies to my posting. I've thoroughly scanned my computer and don't have any viruses or malware. However I'll take the advice given and try another browser.

Don't forget that ver 8 is as far as you can go with windows XP.
Windows Vista/Windows 7 you can use ver 9.

A common problem with Internet Explorer shutting down like this is add-ons rather than IE itself.  Do you have any add-ons, such as flash, and are they up to date?  You can check from the add-ons manager in IE.  If in doubt, remove all add-ons.  You can always then re-install just those that you really need as and when you need to.

Hi mhg
Thanks for the reply. Funny thing, it hasn't happened since around the time I made the posting. Computer is regulary scanned, and everything is up to date.
