I think this might be the family:

Gerald A W Partridge, birth reg - Mar q, 1924, Croydon 2a 569
Mother's surname - Wynn

Marriage - Sept q, 1922, Croydon 2a 661
Robert A Partridge and Ethel Wynne

Thus:
Gerald's dad = Robert
Ethel's maiden name = Wynn(e)

I see that her death reg has Ethel born 19 March 1900. There is this possible birth reg for her but treat with caution as there are others in various parts of the Eng & Wales:

Ethel Wynne, Jun q, 1900, Wrexham 11b 260

Quite a few Robert A Partridge birth regs!

If you were to get the marriage cert, it would give fathers' names and occupations which would help census identification.

On the 1901 census there appears to be only 1 Ethel Wynne for the Wrexham area:
Father Henry Wynne  Aged 34 1867 Bymbo
Mother Mary Ann aged 36 1865 Cymau Denbighshire
Sister Eliz ( possible short for Elizabeth ) aged 11 1890 Broughton Denbighshire
Brother John Charles aged 8 1893                                        "            "
Ethel aged 1 1900                                                              "             "

Address given as 15 Quarry Road Brynteg Broughton.

I saw that yesterday but didn't give it as we don't know that the Wrexham Ethel Wynne is the correct one.  I didn't want to jump the gun on a family who might not be the correct one, especially as they married in Croydon. It might be correct but,  as I said:

I see that her death reg has Ethel born 19 March 1900. There is this possible birth reg for her but treat with caution as there are others in various parts of the Eng & Wales:

Added
- I've just found a marriage in Wrexham, 1928 of an Ethel Wynne and a James Jones. Also one in 1934 to a Harry Formston. Either of these could be the one in the 1901 rather than the one who married Robert Partridge. Hence my warning about treating with caution and getting the marriage cert. first.

Hi, There was a Gerald Partridge app correct age working in Brymbo Steel Works about  1970-80- He was a Departmental Manager Of The Inspection Department. He had a very distinct English accent (regarded as posh by almost everyone) He was a real gentleman and a very fair boss--Everyone who knew him said he had been an officer in the RAF and that is why he spoke the way he did  ::) Regards Tom

thanks to everyone for the information. my own computer is out of action at mo so have to rely on library and a friends.  very interesting to see that elsie ws prob a former miss wynne.  my own grand dad was born in shrewsbury but move to wrexham and caergwrle so when i found there were other partridges living close by i thought i would try and see if they were related in any way.  my grand dad came from shrewsbury and the line went cold at 1773.  however, my gggrand dad's mother was a former mrs wynne.

thanks again
