regiment identity ww2
does anyone know if you joined a regiment in 1943 as a cook did you adopt the title of that regiment as yours or did you still be classed as catering co. and wear the badge to suit the job.My uncle was a cook and i can,t find a link to his records.Has the catering side of ww2 records got its own register of men.

All I can tell you is that not long after the war, my regiment had both Army Catering Corps cooks and Regimental Cooks, each wearing the cap badge of their parent unit.

WW2 Military Records arent online they are held by MOD you will have to send for them they cost £30 or are free to next of kin.

My Grandad was a cook in the Army during WWII.

But he was still combat trained and part of the regular fighting unit of The Dukes (West Riding).

Yep, Cooks in the Guards Regiments were still guardsmen and referred to as such, except  when the grub was manky.
