Hello
I was hoping someone could help me as I have searched everywhere and come up with nothing.
I am looking for any information on Patrick Michael O'dwyer and Marie Bourke. All I know is that they had a son born in Dublin, Ireland in 1928 and he migrated to Australia. When the son got married in 1957, Patrick and Marie had died. Patrick worked as a Blacksmith

Did you try out any birth certs as mentioned in the previous topic ?
Birth record search in Ireland (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,463431.msg3241350.html#msg3241350)
I had a quick search of the BMD Index using the surname, mother's maiden name, and year - and the only result is the birth of a girl in Cashel district (Co. Tipperary).

I have looked absolutely everywhere. I only know these names from the marriage certificate of their son to my nanna. I have the certificate in front of me but otherwise i have nothing else

There's no sign that I can see of a birth for that couple during 1928 in Dublin. The BMD Index includes mother's maiden name after mid 1927, and searching for any O'Dwyer/Dwyer & Bourke/Burke births registered between 1927 and 1935 shows just four matches, plus some duplicates - and they are in Tipperary, Limerick and Galway.
see : O'Dwyer/Bourke births (https://www.familysearch.org/search/records/index#count=20&query=%2Bsurname%3Ao%27dwyer~%20%2Bbirth_year%3A1927-1930~%20%2Bmother_surname%3Aburke~&collection_id=1408347)
Births before mid 1927 do not include mothers maiden surname on the online index, which make the search more difficult. There are quite a few Kevin O'Dwyer births listed, and to check if the parents match you would have to purchase the certs. see : Kevin O'Dwyer births - 1920-1935 (https://www.familysearch.org/search/records/index#count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3Akevin~%20%2Bsurname%3Ao%27dwyer~%20%2Bbirth_year%3A1920-1935~&collection_id=1408347&birth_place0=8)
'Dublin' can mean the city, suburbs or county, and the registration districts which cover the area are : Dublin North, Dublin South, Rathdown and Balrothery, plus small sections in Dunshaughlin, Naas and Celbridge districts. Note Rathdown also includes a large area in Co. Wicklow

it's a long shot without the sons birth to narrow down the area and timeline....but I had a search on the BMD Index for possible marriages for Patrick [O']Dwyer and Marie/Mary Bourke/Burke in the Dublin area in the years 1920 to 1930. There are 5 Patrick [O']Dwyer marriages that I could see in total in Dublin North and South - but unfortunately none that cross match to a Bourke.

Births before mid 1927 do not include mothers maiden surname on the online index, which make the search more difficult.
if you or someone you know could go into the GRO in Dublin, the maiden names are given in the books from about 1903 or so

Bourke as well as Burke could be transcribed as Rorke / Rourke / Dourke etc so may need to open it up a bit

Hi there,
Just a few q's to help with a search..............
How sure are you that Kevin was born in Dublin ?
Sometimes people emmigrated from Dublin and then it can be presumed that they were also from there too !
Do you have his ship records ?
Are you aware of Kevin having any siblings ?
Did his parents go to Australia too or just Kevin ?
What documentation did you get his parents names from ?

Do you know when he went to Australia ?
Was he in the Military?

I have the marriage certificate for Kevin and my nanna. It lists his birthplace as dublin, Ireland and that Patrick Michael O'Dwyer and Marie Bourke were his parents but were deceased when he married. My nanna thinks Kevin had a brother but she cant be sure

There was a Nicolas Kevin Dwyer born Oct-Dec 1927 in Dublin South ...................be wary of dates as they do vary in terms of actual birth date and registration etc.
Also a Kevin A O'Dwyer born in Jan-Mar 1927
On Familysearch there is a Maria Dwyer coming up in the Prisons register................
Have struggled to find anybody going to Australia of that name at that time.
