Title: Ganley family, Gort, Galway
Post by: N.Z girl on Sunday 12 August 12 08:57 BST (UK)
Hi.

I'm researching the Ganley (aka Gantley) family of Gort, Galway.
My ancestor was Bridget Ganley who was born in Gort and married Thomas Saunders in Limerick in January 1873.  Bridget's father was John Ganley, a labourer.

Thanks

Hello,

Griffiths Valuation (http://www.connorsgenealogy.net/galway/KiltartanGV.htm) (c 1855) shows a John Gantley in Gort.

Do you know what denomination the Gantleys were?
Bridget was born before civil registration records (1864) so you would be looking to Parish Records.

The Catholic Parish of Gort is  Kilmacduagh and Kiltartan. These records do not seem to be available online (http://galwayeast.rootsireland.ie/generic.php?filename=sources.tpl&selectedMenu=sources)

Hi heywood,

Thanks for your help.

The family were Catholic, although Bridget married in the Church of Ireland.
Her daughter, my g-g grandmother was Catholic.

I'm a Ganley, my grandads sister was called Bridget, I think they had some connection to Galway but were originally from Roscommon, they are all Catholics and I'm not shore about my great grandfathers name.

Hello Danielle,

As said in response to your other post, http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,631104.msg4789419.html#msg4789419 you need to give more information.
What exactly do you know in respect of names; years of births, marriages and deaths and places.

regards
