Title: Isabella Law, North Aylesford
Post by: burrey on Wednesday 08 August 12 17:30 BST (UK)
Hi,
I am looking for ISABELLA LAW.
This is her married name, but I do not know what her maiden name was.
I believe she was born c1806 In North Aylesford or Chatham.
I have her in a couple of census, but that is all.

The 1841 census has her living at 2, Ordnance Terrace, Chatham, Kent.
The 1851 census she is living in Cage Lane, Strood, Rochester, Kent.

She had a daughter Elizabeth ( Avis ? ) Law born c1836 I believe in Chatham.
Elizabeth murdered her employer on 19/1/1855 at 11, Ordnance Terrace, Chatham.
She was cleared of this murder but was sent to prison for larceny.
She went on to marry Richard Hyde.

Any information on these people would be most appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
John.

do you have 1861 census - Richard Hyde, Elizabeth and daughter Maria are lodgers in Portsmouth??

to save duplicate look ups could you post what info you already have? Census etc??

Elizabeth's marriage cert would give her father's name and occupation

Just noticed you have previous posts on Elizabeth and have received census information and the report on the trial - so it would help save duplicate look ups if you could  post details of what information you are looking for??

Hi Suz,
Thank`s for that.
What I would really like to find out is more about ISABELLA LAW ( parents,  marriage etc ) but I have nothing on her only the 1841 & 1851 census.

Nor can I can find anything on RICHARD & ELIZABETH after the 1861 census.
I don`t know when RICHARD died but I think ELIZABETH died c1899, so she should be on some census somewhere.
Thank You.
John.

If you purchase Elizabeth's marriage cert to Richard Hyde that should give her father's name and occupation -then you could look for marriage to Isabella and so get her maiden name

This is likely to be the marriage you are looking for James LAW to Isabella FOLDES 15 Nov 1825 in Gillingham.
