Title: Grandmother.
Post by: brohenwr14 on Friday 03 August 12 11:57 BST (UK)
Hi there. I am looking for my grandmother's death certificate, I believed she died in Trowbridge along with her children (Paul I think one of them was called) and has been buried in Trowbridge. My grandmother committed suicide in 22nd Febuary 1967 in Trowbridge and has been buried with her children and would there been an inquest. Also I would be grateful if you could point in me a direction of an obituary about her. My father has never talked about her. I have found her birth certificate and the marriage certificate of her first wedding. Her name on death would be Aeronwen Gwendraeth Hopkins (maiden name Davies)
Thanks very much

The Wiltshire council website has a list of local papers, if you have a look to see which one covered Trowbridge in those days you could contact them and ask if they have any more information.

Hi brohenwr14

What a very sad event in your family history, my heart goes out to anyone with a connection...

I googled your grandmothers name and came up with a newpaper report from the National Library in Singapore. As it is a relatively recent event, I'll just post the link here and you can take a look yourself. The Death Indices for Trowbridge for the relevant quarter confirm the childrens deaths.

Me again...

Regarding the Coroner's Inquest Report, I would telephone the Wiltshire County Coroner's office and ask them if/how you may be able to request a copy. I know there are next-of-kin issues so you will have to take advice from them.

I'm currently waiting for a similar report for my Grandmother who died in 1971 in Liverpool, and I had to provide certificates proving my direct link with her  :-\

Good luck

Thanks very much for your help!
It was a shock to discover that my Grand-mother committed suicide. My father never told me, and has never spoken about it. All he's ever said that she died young!!!

Hi there,

I know this is a little strange, but I think your grandmother was married to my dad.

I believe that your dad was one of three siblings and I was in contact with one (and his family) prior to his death a couple of years back.

If I am able to offer you any help at all, please just ask, as I am also looking for answers myself.

You are correct with the name Paul and there was also Julia and Anthony. :(

I'm new to this site (after finding you by googling your grandma's name) and have got no idea at all how to get in contact with you.  Like you I have only been given little information.

I hope this isn't too much of a shock to read.

Take Care.
