Good Affternoon,
I am wondering whether anyone may be able help me with one of my family lines.
I have noted that there was an Edm'd Cudmore who was a farmer in Longueville Co Cork around the 1760's (which I have just found). My Gggrandmother was Mary Ann Cudmore and on her Immigration Papers (21 July 1841 on board the "Helen") she stated that her parents were Edmund/Edward Cudmore and Mary/Margaret Kelly of Co Cork. She was born c ?1817 and she married Samuel Agnew in The Church of Ireland 15 April 1837 Co Cork. I have also noted that Samuel was from Longuevile although he was born in Scotland. His mother died possibly in child birth and his father remarried (his father being James Agnew). I have been trying to find out more on the Cudmore family for nearly 17years and have always hit a brick wall.
I would appreciate any help I can get with this family.

There are three townlands in Co. Cork that might fit the location you mentioned - Longueville near to Mallow, and the townlands of Longueville North and South near to Fermoy.
Your problem though is the very early dates involved, as few parishes have records before 1830.

where in Co. Cork was this marriage - i.e. which parish or church ?

Hi Shane,
Many thanks for your help.
Mary Ann and Samuel were married St.James Church, Mallow, Co.Cork.
Samuel listed his place as Longueville and Mary Ann as Killgobbin - both Co. Cork.
The land that Edmund had was near Mallow, Co Cork.
Does this help at all?

Mallow is in the civil and church of Ireland parish of the same name, but I'm not seeing a listing for any historic Church of Ireland records for this parish in the RCBL or National Archives... but there does seem to be some transcripts for the parish on the pay-website at RootsIreland.
where did you locate the marriage details ?
The civil parish for the Longueville near to Mallow is Ballyclogh - but dont see any listings for it on RootsIreland, RCBL or NA indexes. The records may be lost or still in local custody..

....
There a townland named Killgobbin in Co. Cork but it's close to Bandon, quite a distance from Mallow, so dont think that fits very well. There is a Kilgobban townland near to Mallow that's also in the same civil parish as Civil Parish as Longueville (i.e. Ballyclogh/Ballyclough) that fits much better.
Apparently Ballyclogh is sometimes listed as Lavan. In 1837 there are some details mentioned of a mansion in the parish named Longueville, which belonged to Colonel Longfield, representative of the late Viscount Longueville.

Hi Shane,
Many thanks for getting back to me so quick. I think I am starting to get a bit confused.
That site is very good reading with regards to Lavan.
The marriage of Mary Ann and Samuel is on the IGI.
I am from Oz and my cousin in Mackay Queensland and I have been doing or trying to do the Cudmore's for at least 17 years.

Here's a link to the marriage on FamilySearch -
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FGFB-3ZT
It appears to be an extracted rather than submitted record, but based on the film number etc possibly from 'O'Kief, Coshe Mang, Slieve Lougher and Upper Blackwater' work by Casey, rather than from parish records. See : Film #823809 (https://familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titlehitlist&columns=*%2C0%2C0&filmno=823809)
I had a look at the free index for North Cork on RootsIreland and there is a possible transcript for the marriage based on a search for Samuel Agnew in 1837... I'll see if I can figure out which parish it is..

The marriage does seems to be listed under Mallow Church of Ireland parish on RootsIreland. There's a match to a search to Samuel Agnew and Mary Ann - for some reason there's no match to her surname - but that's probably a problem with the search function or the index.
At least that confirms the marriage - but given the timeframe it probably would not show any further details.
If you put just 'Cudmore' in to a search on RootsIreland for North Cork records (all parishes) you get 8 results for marriages, and 22 for baptisms. You require credits to see the more detailed index with names and year, or the full transcript.

Hi Shane,
Many thanks for your ongoing help.

focusing on searches of the RootsIreland index for Cudmore baptisms between 1801 and 1833, and narrowing the search using parents firstnames of Edmond and Margaret I see that there are two matches (CofI baptisms dont usually include mother maiden name). Using parents of either Edward or Mary doesn't show any results in North Cork.
The years seem to be 1817 and 1824 - but neither come up with a match for first name of the child being Mary, Mary Ann, or Ann.
Nether of these seem to be in Mallow CofI parish ... but may be siblings to your Mary Ann..

to give an idea of the locations - here's a google map showing the two townlands mentioned on the marriage in relation to Mallow town.

Hi Joanne,
You seem to be a long time searching for this marriage. I did look up
Rosemary Ffolliot's index a while ago to see if it was listed in any
newspaper around the time ( this index covers 1780's to 1830 approx) no
reference to your Mary Cudmore.
I think maybe your best course of action now would be to contact the
Canon in St James church. She is very helpful and holds many original
records there. Contact ref http://www.mallow.cloyne.anglican.org/contact/
It is possible that Mary and Samuel married at Ballyclough which is closer to
Longueville than Mallow. There are a few possibilities, Clonfert, Ballyclough,
Newmarket, Dromagh ( for which there are no remaining records) Millstreet ( I have come across a few Cudmores in Millstreet) and of course St James Mallow.
You would have to give a donation towards the search but certainly might
produce a result and probably the best option at this stage.

There was a family of Cudmores in Cork City who owned a Fruit Shop and Wholesale Business. One of the Family is Harold Cudmore who skippered the British Sailing Team in the 1980 `s He had a sister Jean Cudmore and a brother. Forgotten the Name of his father who married twice.
A Great sailing and yachting family.
Hope this might help. Boobah
