Please can anyone help identify what the second column in this extract from the 1802 parish register of St Mary Magdalene, Bermondsey, refers to?
The column heading looks like "Bap." and underneath is a list of single digits.
thank you!

the page is headed May 1802
so the single digits are the date in May that the baptism occurred
looks like it was a busy parish with lots of baptisms on the same day!

Agreed, the first column is "Born", the second is "Bapd" = "Baptised". Since there are so many baptisms, only the day is written, though as Marmalady said all of these are in May 1802.

so there were 16 baptisms on 2 May?!

Assuming there were none on the previous page ...
There appear to be lots on the 9th too - both of these days were Sundays http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/?year=1802&country=9

thank you, and for the very useful calendar link!
I wasn't sure about the Baptised date because some of the birth dates listed for baptisms in May 1802 appear to show months after May! eg November 1802
Incidentally will post this as a separate topic, just wondered if you know of anything available for Bermondsey,London, area similar to Bristol's Know Your Place http://maps.bristol.gov.uk/knowyourplace/ (http://maps.bristol.gov.uk/knowyourplace/) (where you can look for free at maps for different eras)

In the birth column, the year appears above the date, not below it. The only November birth date on the excerpt you posted is: "1801 Nov 14" - not 1802. Where no year is specified it is assumed 1802.
