Hello,
Does anyone have access to the marriage registers for Rowley Regis?
I am hoping that the original entry may provide some clues regarding the birth place/parentage of my 6x great grandparents.
Thomas Sidaway married Hannah Dimmock on the 22nd November 1790.
Many thanks
Bethan

Hi Bethan Thomas and Hannah are also my GtX5 Grandparents, I have traced the family tree. Thomas was born abt 1770 Cradley Heath, died 1838. Hannah was born abt 1769 probably Mushroom Green, the Dimmock family were Chain Makers there for generations, it comes under Dudley Wood or Rowley Regis. They Married at St Giles RR 22.11.1790. Witness was James Hingley. Their daughter Maria Sidaway born 1791 Cradley Heath, Married Thomas Stringer they are my GtX4 Grandparents. Which sibling are you descended from? Linell.

Oh sorry you wanted their parents, Thomas Parents were William Sidaway born about 1751 RR and Sarah Littley. Cannot find Hannah's Baptism, they were Non Conformists and not many of those records have survived, but I am sure she was from Mushroom Green and had a brother Joseph Dimmock, I found some notes in the Park Lane Presbyterian Parish Records.
HTH Linell.

I'm descended from the Dimmock clan of Cradley, but the furthest I can go back at the moment is George Dimmock (1814 - 1888) who was married to Fanny Yardley (1816 - 1888) in 1831 at St Thomas, Dudley.

Think this is your George Tanja, I believe he was born in Dudley Wood Cradley Heath, comes under both Dudley and Rowley Regis, it is actually more Mushroom Green Netherton Dudley than Cradley Heath, the place of birth for that area can be misleading, it is where my Dimmocks came from.
1861 Census: Quarry Bank, Kingswinford.
George DIMMOCK hd.46 Chainmaker b. Dudley.
Fanny DIMMOCK wife 45 b. Dudley.
Thomas DIMMOCK son 20 Chainmaker b. Kingswinford.
George DIMMOCK son 17 Chainmaker b. Kingswinford.
Charles DIMMOCK son 14 Chainmaker b. Kingswinford.
Faithfull DIMMOCK son Schol.5. b. Kingswinford.
Hopeful DIMMOCK son 1 B. Kings ...more

Yep...that's him. I am descended down the line of his son Faithful. Do you link into this Dimmock clan too?

I don't know where George fits in? But they must be connected, they were all Chainmakers from Mushroom Green, probably lived there for generations, they were a strong Baptist family, Baptist were not Baptised until they were Adults, but they did keep a Register of Births, I found some of mine at Cradley Baptist Church, but a lot of the records have been sadly lost over the years. You have some great names there, Faithfull and Hopefull...............That's what everyone on here should be called :)
