 i have michael magee 1827 ireland wife mary born 1829 says yardley children john t 1858 smethwick,william 1861 smethwick and mary j 1863 smethwick living 1 dugdale stree birmingham on the 1881 census i cannot find them on the 1871 can anyone help please

Try under Michael McAgee.

There are transcriptions on both Ancestry and FindMyPast with the same name.  Married to a Mary and with 4 children born in Smethwick.
