Title: Jessie Ann Hadden and James Winten
Post by: Urbanfox on Saturday 21 July 12 20:04 BST (UK)
Hi I am trying to find out where and when my great grandmother was born. She married a James Winten in 1904 district of St Nicholas Aberdeen. At the time of marriage their usual residence was 118 Park street Aberdeen.
Jessie Ann later married Thomas Hannah in Haggs Stirlingshire and died there in 1954. I have her parents name on her death certificate who are William Hadden a farm servant and Isabella Hadden maiden surname Clark.
I have tried scotlands people but can't find names that match. I would be really grateful of any more information, or ideas as to where I might look next.
regards, sly.

Hi!
Are you sure of the spelling? Perhaps it could be registered as Winton. Have you tried looking for them in the 1911 census? That would tell you where she was born.

Thanks Susan, I have managed to find the marriage certificate of Jessie Ann Hadden and James Winten. James died, and Jessie Ann re-married. I am still trying to piece things together but I think Jessie Ann was born in St Nicholas, however most likely she was staying with other family members as her mother seems to have re-located when she re- married.

Hi

On Jessies marriage to James Winten who did she name as her parents?

Were these the same on her 2nd marriage and death cert?

It looks like Jessie is staying with her maternal grandparents in the 1891 census living at 26 Jasminre Terrace Aberdeen

George Clark    53 b Invernes
Catharine Clark    56 b Lochbroom
James Clark    15 b Aberdeen
Jane Ann Hadden    7  b Aberdeen

Jessie/Jane I think are interchangeable names have you looked for a birth of Jane Hadden in Aberdeen?

Hi Not sure if you know but Isabella may have married a Walter Begg and is living at 26 Jasmine Terrace in the 1891 census with their 2 children Catherine aged 2 and Walter aged 1month

There is 1 marriage between 1884 and 1891 in Aberdeen for a Isabella Clark and Walter Begg

Wonder if Isabella never actually married William Hadden It might be worth finding Isabellas death to see if it shows her as being married twice

Norma, Do you know if there is a death certificate for William Hadden? I thought the other children would be named Begg? and that Jessie ann was the only child from William Hadden. Still, I am sure it will all come together soon.
 Thanks.

I wonder if the census information's from Ancestry. If so, it may have been mistranscribed. The best thing to do would be to go on scotlandspeople & look for William's death & also the childrens births.Once you view the certificates all will be revealed! Good luck,
