Hi there again,

Ok I can see Richard on the 1901 census in Antrim

 richard carney 1901 census (http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Antrim/Court_Ward/California_Street/934258/)

and still in Antrim in 1911

 richard carney 1911 census (http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Antrim/Clifton/Antrim_Road/143803/)

This is the only Richard that I can see as a good match.

Richard Carney
7 Jun 1870
Belfast No. 1, Ant, Ireland
Parents William Carney & Ellen Crummey

This looks like his marriage to Sarah BUT there are 2 Sarah's against his name a Sarah Eagleson and a Sarah McAleenan

Are you trying to tie Richard's father William back to Dublin ?

If William and Ellen turn out to be the correct couple then here are some other children of their's

children of William and Ellen (https://familysearch.org/search/records/index#count=20&query=%2Bsurname%3Acarney~%20%2Bfather_givenname%3Awilliam~%20%2Bmother_surname%3Acrummey~)

Hi 'Celtic....'

You will need to give us more info to try and fill the gap !

Is the information that I sent you correct ?

If so, then do you think William is the son of Nicholas or Peter ?

There seems to have been two separate Cole Lane's - one was off Henry Street in the north city centre, the other was in the south of the city near Meath Street. The first would be in St. Mary's Civil parish, the 2nd probably in St. Catherine's.

You didn't mention a denomination for this Carney family - if they were CofI then any parish records may include occupations which can help match up records.

I had another search of records on the IrishGenealogy website, but not seeing any likely matches Williams baptism in Dublin city.... There are a number of RC baptism for the name William Carney (with variations) around the right time, i.e. between 1800 and 1820, but none that I can see with father Nicholas.

Some possible links to siblings... i.e. baptisms with father's name Nicolas Kearney in Dublin City between 1800 and 1820 :

1. Alexr. Kearney in 1801 to parents Nicolai and Eleona. No residence is recorded, and the parish for this record is St. Andrews RC - which covers parts of the east of the city near Trinity College, and stretching west to Grafton st. etc
See : Alexr. Kearney - 1801 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/6823620162886)

2. In 1804 there's an RC baptism with in St. Michan's RC parish for a Judith Kearney with parents Nicolas (as Nicola) Kearney and Mary Byrne.
See : Baptism of Juditha Kearney - 1804 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/e60b5b0378118)

3. In 1809 there's yet another baptism in a different parish with father's name Nicholas Kearney.
See : Laurentius Kearney - 1809 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/5596620286477)

4. And a John Kearny to Nicholas and Elizabeth of 29 Marlborough St in 1818.

Hi Shane

I could be wrong but I think you have the timeline wrong....

We need to be looking for children born in Dublin in the early 1800's to PETER not Nicholas !

....
William s/o Nicholas Carney b Dublin 1810 died Belfast 1878,
.....

thanks, I think you are right - had a look at the older post -

'Nicholas Carney born Dublin on Cole's Lane about 1810. His father, Peter'

I was assuming punctuation that wasn't there - i.e. commas

William, s/o Nicholas Carney, b Dublin 1810 died Belfast 1878

I searched for Nicholas in any field, and I'm pretty sure I didn't see any Peter Kearney's either - will have another look through.

Hi Shane

Also on the 1901 & 1911 census Richard was RC so I am presuming that the older generations were too !

thanks - I saw that... none of the potential matches by surname were CofI anyway. Unfortunately RC records dont usually give occupation, so may not help with the possible 'Coachbuilder' connection.

round 2 - Carney/Kearney baptisms in Dublin City (except St. Paul's), with father named Peter between 1800 and 1820 :

  Gulielmum Kearney - 1800 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/94325a0162091)
  Peter Kerny - 12 September 1804 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/38096a0288108)
  Saragh Kearney - 1807 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/d477a90166825)
  Patt Karny - 1808 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/17ad980022531)
  Bridgt Karny - 1809 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/5594a80022745)
  Andreas Kearney - 13 April 1815 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/ca249b0382164)
  Brigidam Kerney - 31 December 1816 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/3da8800382745)

All the above are RC, most in the City, but the two in 1808 and 1809 are in Rathfarnham parish South Co. Dublin.
