Title: how to find a service record for frederick albert stewart

looking on how to look for a service record for my grand father in laws' father

his fathers name was frederick albert stewart born 1886 and with the Durham light infantry, his battalion number is 11848
he served until around 1919, before ww1 we think he was serving in india
any help much appreciated

You are one of lucky ones only 30% of records survive His is one
Doesnt look to have served in India he enlisted Aug 1914 and served with 10th and 3rd DLI and then Labour Corps he was wounded in lumbar area thats why he probably ended up in Labour Corps.

Just to let you know when you view records then instead of going forward with the arrow top right go backwards as well as there are further records.
He served in 129 Labour company as well as 10 DLI.
