Presumably you mean the Capt Wilding, 65, resident in Turnham Green, in Chiswick?
The only other person listed in that household is Amelia Wood, 60, ind.

Hi
See this topic according to Henry Wilding's marriage information in 1840 his father was by then a deceased mariner. No indication on Henry or his sibling's marriages that their father was a captain, something because of the importance of social status that is unlikely to have been missed out if it was indeed the case.

If Henry's father was dead by 1840 he won't appear on censuses. Is there any reason to believe Henry was giving incorrect information about his father on his marriage in 1840?

Hi Valda
Yes I've since seen Maree's earlier posts and I came to the conclusion that this Captain was unlikely to be relevant to her research.
This was not before I had searched in vain in Navy Lists and The Gazette for a likely R.N, candidate for the man in the 1841 census !
