I am trying to find out more about Thomas Bedwell (also spelt Bidwell) born about 1798, East Peckham, Kent. He married Jane (possibly nee Henley) also born East Peckham (possibly Yardling) and I can only find them together in the 1851 census living in St James, Westminster. Thomas's occupation is a Basket Maker. It is only these two living at this location, so no children or any other clues.
They had one daughter that I am aware of Elizabeth who was born about 1831 and married John Spriggs in 1855 in Victoria, Australia.
I am trying to find out more about the Bedwell's or Bidwell's but I am finding it hard to locate them in the census records. It's possible that they all moved out to Australia after the 1851 census.
Any help or ideas are very appreciated :)

Hi there,
I have found a marriage for Thomas Bedwell and Jane Henley 3rd April 1820 in Wateringbury kent, on family search .org,
also on the site are several christenings with parents Thomas and Jane in East Peckham,
Edward 1821
Mary Ann 1822
Thomas 1824
Jane 1826
Betsy 1830 (aka Elizabeth)
Alfred 1833
There is also a John William BIDWELL, with parents Thomas and Jane
Maybe some of the names ring some bells.
Regards Dovely

1841 Census
Peacock St,
St Mary Newington, Surrey
HO107/1063/3/St Mary Newington
Thomas BEDWELL, 40, Basket Maker
Jane, 40
John, 13
ELIZABETH, 11
Alfred, 8
There may be an Elizabeth Maitland, 75, in the household also but from image its hard to tell.
Jane c 1826 is working away from Home in St Mary also.
Looks like John William Bedwell that Dovely found is their Son also.

1851 Census;
Edwd Bedwell 1831 Eastpeekham (sic), Kent is in Middlesex with Wife Harriet
They seem to have no Children. Neice Sarah LEWIS age 4 is with them.
Still in England 1871.
Is this the Arrrival you have for Elizabeth?
BEDWELL, ELIZTH, age 24, arrived OCT 1854 "NELEUS"
Seems to be the only Bedwell on the Ship.

Thanks everyone, that fills in alot of gaps. It looks like they mostly spelt their name Bedwell instead of Bidwell.

No, I didn't have this but it fits, with her marriage in 1855, Victoria. It looks like she must have come over to Australia by herself.
Thankyou :)
