Hope it helps

Thanks for the link, I had already looked at that. Unfortunately it only says what Civil Parishes were included in the New Forest Reg Dist not the towns where the actual Register Office(s) was/were.
I am try to find the venue for a marriage that took place in 1962, but the only information on the marriage certificate regarding the venue is 'New Forest' - the forest is a pretty large place!
I'll see what the Reg Off in Ringwood has to say.

Good evening
What about Lyndhurst which is the administrative capital of the New Forest

Thanks for the thought - will see who says what on Monday.

There is no Register Office in Lyndhurst, Lymington is the only one to cover the New Forest apart from Ringwood, which is the main one.

So, would Ringwood have been the Register Office location in 1962?

Hi, I'm not sure if this will help or throw a spanner in the works, but Ringwood Registry Office was part of the Christchurch District which covered a lot of New Forest towns at this time. This was certainly the case in 1969 when I was born. Maybe contact them to see if they could help you.

From what I can remember from a talk given by the Ringwood Registrar several years ago, Ringwood would have been the one, but I would not like to swear to it.
I suggest you contact the office for a definitive answer.
