Hi Sue
Thomas Maloy appears to be quite a popular Irish name.
There is, however, a Thomas Maloy b. c 1811 Sheerness, Kent.
1861 Census, Sculcoates, Hull, Yorks. RG9/3584/36/27
Thomas Maloy aged 50, Head, Cane worker. B. Sheerness, Kent
Elizabeth Hotham 32, Housekeeper. B. Westella, Nr. Hull.
John McIlroy 15, cane worker's apprentice. B. Hull
William Kelly 14, cane worker's apprentice. B. Hull
If you have more info it may help.

Many thanks for your assistance and apologies for delay in replying.
1841 census gives Thomas Molloy born Ireland at Chatham Kent a soldier in hospital.
At Gillingham Kent there is a Margaret Mollay also born Ireland, a soldiers wife (though there is a line through that).
No Thomas born 1834 who is on the 1851 census giving birth as Leeds. I have had help from a member of this board who tells me that there is a Leeds in Kent.
Regards
Sue
