Title: Compton, Wolverhampton
Post by: p.peedle on Thursday 12 July 12 09:43 BST (UK)
Can anyone help please?
My Grandfather's brother keep the tobacconists/sweet shop, on the Bridgnorth Road, in Compton, facing up the Holloway in the 1940/50's. These shops were knocked down in the 1960's I think?, to make way for the shops that are there now.
Would anyone have any photo's of this shop & any other information on the other shops in the row? I know that there was a Fruit & Veg shop, that I think was next door that the Williams family owned?
Any help would be appreciated
Pat

Hello
As a schoolboy I used to use the shops I seem to remember the name was Illidge, on my way to Codsall Secondary Modern School.
Yes there was a fruit and veg. The Star pub opposite ? up the hollaway on the right the youth centre.
