Thanks for the replys.

I can't find him in the earlier census as I don't know for sure when he was born. Is Old Swan a parish or was it in another parish ?
From his marriage cert he was married to Jane Ann Atkinson in 1854 at Prescot and was residing at Prescot and his father was a Blacksmith.

IF   his parents were George & Francis it would fit as in the 1851 census he is listed as a Blacksmiths Labourer born in West Derby and his father listed  as a Blacksmith.
In 1861 and 1871 he is listed as a Blacksmiith and an Engine Smith  born in Old Swan.
What I would like to know is St Peter's, Old Swan & West Derby all the same place or same area.

Andy.

I`d just typed that up  ;D

Lydia married Henry Hards at St Mary, Edge Hill in 1847 and it appears that her and her husband were witnesses to George’s wedding to Jane.

Click on the following link and zoom in to find exactly where Old Swan (West Derby) is.

Hi,

The family are all in Eccleston by 1851 transcribed as Roguson so the marriages all seem to fit nicely

Old Swan is a district of Liverpool - West Derby is a district of Liverpool - but
West Derby is also the Register Office base ...and several districts of Liverpool come under West Derby ....Glasshouse Lane is Old Swan - but under the West Derby register office area...confusing I know , but Old Swan comes under West Derby for registration records
Edge Hill is also a Liverpool District  which comes under West Derby ...
Toxteth Park is the other side of Liverpool ( South Liverpool )
St  Anthony is I presume the one in Scotland Rd , which is toward Everton ...

so 1841 census in Glasshouse Lane is Old Swan...probably where George was born /baptised .......if you go up the road for about One AND A HALF miles you will find yourself at St Marys Edge Hill on the same continuous road...
so .....St Peter - city centre / St Mary ,Edge Hill is nearer but depends on the family church ??
ask away any questions - if I can help ,

I may have made a mistake regarding Glasshouse Lane...I thought this pub was in Glasshouse Lane...but it`s in Mill Lane ,Old Swan .... I think we may be pointing towards Walton ( on the Hill ) ..looks like all those named are in Walton on the hill in 1841 census ... I wasn`t aware Walton on the Hill was under West Derby...apologies

I will have to check when they were built , but there are 4 St Peter in Liverpool
Church Street ,City centre
Seel St, City centre
Everton
Woolton ( Eleanor Rigby is buried there )..certain that is around 1860/70
back soon
allan
added...it has to be Church st - seel st was roman catholic - woolton 1887 - Everton st peter ?
sadly the St Peter ,Church st was demolished in 1919...and a Woolworths was built on it ....
