Title: Reeves and Tunnicliff family from London
Post by: JRussellClough on Tuesday 10 July 12 14:05 BST (UK)
Hi all,

I am conducting research on behalf of a friend into his paternal side of his family, little is known about the family and any help from anybody would be greatly appreciated.

His Great Grandparents were Frederick C Reeves and Louisa R Tunnicliff. They married in 1926 in Southwark, and had two daughters that we know off. Lily L Reeves (1927) and Louisa J Reeves (1933). Lily went on to marry Ernest Frederick Mole and had a son.

We are trying to find out more information about the Reeves family. We haven't been able to get further past Frederick, who lived a very interesting life and we need to find out more.

My friend has a family story which was told to him that Frederick went to jail for something, but nobody knows what it is. It is believed that this was between 1939 - 1945 during the second world war.

We are still unsure of his birth date/year and estimate it to be between 1898 - 1905.

Any help offered by someone would be greatly appreciated and may go some way into solving this long standing family mystery.

Many thanks,

Jemilla Clough

Hi

Here is their marriage

Frederick C Reeves
Southwark   London
1926 Quarter of registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
Spouse Louisa R  Tunnicliff
Volume no:  1D Page no:  191

If you get this  certificate it will give his father's name and you can then trace the family back in the censuses.

If he was imprisoned during the war, he might have been a conscientious objector.

Are you able to provide what the initial C stands for.

Does your friend have any idea where & when Frederick died? If the death record can be found it should help identify a birthdate.

His Great Grandparents were Frederick C Reeves and Louisa R Tunnicliff. They married in 1926 in Southwark, and had two daughters that we know off. Lily L Reeves (1927) and Louisa J Reeves (1933).

If you search on FreeBMD for Reeves births with mother's maiden name Tunnicliff you should also find a possible son to the couple, born in Southwark in 1930.

He may have died aged 2 in Lambeth (Dec qtr 1932).

Had a look on the London Electrol records and the couple where living in Hayes St Southwark up to 1953 when Louisa R(ose) died Sep 1953 Lambeth 5c 867.
Frederick stays on for another year. There is a possible death June 18654 Surrey NW 5g 623 which may well be him but he was born 1887.
There is a Frederick Charles born in Salisbury 1887 in earlier census and he works as a shunter ofr the LSW railway in Surrey. So he is in the area.
Don't know why he didn't marry earlier but definately not on the electrol registro for London after 1954 ,but could of course have moved away.
