As I had the page and volume info I ordered a marriage cert from Lombard St East, Dublin stating specifically that I required a RESEARCH copy. I know that they are 4e I had to pay 11e and when I received it it was a copy of the original. I made the request over the phone as I live in England and cannot visit in person. Can research copies only be ordered by post??

Dont think the local offices do Research certs, but they are €4 from GRO Roscommon - see : Ordering Certs from GRO Roscommon (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,599538.0.html)
The references on the BMD Index relate to the national Index which I believe only applies to GRO headoffice.

Thanks,Shane - I rang Roscommon first and they put me onto Dublin. Wish they had a form to fill in for research purposes, would make life easier lol

Forms are here

I send this off by post and usually get the copy of the certificate back in a week from Roscommon. I pay by credit card. If you know the volume and page number it is only 4 euro. Great service at a bargain price. Check the box for photocopy
good luck

Thanks Andrew, I've been apprehensive about sending credit card details through the post, looks like I will have to now, far too many certs needed lol

I can understand your apprehension. I was reluctant at first but in the end it was the only way. I've been using the service for about five years now with the forms and have had no problems.
In the end there are easier ways to get your credit card details especially if you shop online. Mine was cloned in a petrol station a few years back. I don't think there is any more risk in this especially if you monitor your account closely. It's a risk you run every time you use your card sadly.
Their service is really speedy and they could teach the GRO in England a thing or two about pricing their services.
Good luck
Andrew
