I hope I have posted this in the correct section.
I am hoping someone could please date this for me so that I can try and find a name for him.
Thanks, Wendy

Oh, now I can see his spurs...mounted division of some sort?
-
The badge looks like it could be the 16th (The Queens') Lancers.
Would it be possible to scan just the badge in high definition?
-
Just reading up on the 16th now...thankyou very much

If your man was from this regiment their museum curator might be able to help with dating the uniform:
Queen's Royal Lancers Museum
Thoresby Courtyard,
Thoresby Park,
Perlethorpe,
NG22 9EP
Tel: 01623 824222

Thankyou very much for the address. I'm in Australia, so will email it off.

Sorry, took a while, and this was the best I could do.

This is a cap badge of the 16th Lancers. The crown changes style depending on the reigning monarch at the time. I can't see the detail on your photo well enough to say which crown style it is.
Hope this helps
Philip

That badge also applies to the 16th/5th Lancers after the regiments amalgamated in 1922.
The crown style on your image is the Kings crown.
I would say the date is interwar.

Thankyou very much. I have sent a picture off to the curator.
I can see the 16 quite clearly now, so we have the 16th Lancer's C1918-1939?
Now to go over suitable family member's to put a name to the uniform.
I shall let you know if I find out any more info.
Thankyou again.
