I have Eliabeth H VIZARD as my G-G-G Grandmother, having married George HANCOCK 1840, in Alverstoke, Gosport, Hampshire.
I have Elizabeth's dob as 11 Apr., 1819, in Dursley, Gloucestershire. With no additional information.
Elizabeth and George had 6 children, all of whom were born in Gosport:
(i). Kate(my G-G-Grand mother);
(ii). Jane;
(iii). George;
(iv). Sarah;
(v). Joseph;
(vi). Harry.
Who were Elizabeth's parents, and were there any siblings?
Thank you, in advance.

Hi John,
Source: Glos Family History Society (GFHS):-
VIZARD, Elizabeth, dau of James & Elizabeth, a Shearman of Dursley, baptised April 11th, 1819 @ St James the Great, Dursley.
NB: A Shearman was a skilled worker who sheared the nap from cloth.
I couldn't find any siblings of Elizabeth.
VIZARD, James, Widower, married Betty WRIGHT @ St James the Great, Dursley on October 18th, 1818, by Banns.
NB: Betty is short for Elizabeth.

Hi Victor,
Can you see if James born c 1826 is the Son of James/Elizabeth and therefore a Sibling for Elizabeth 1819 please :)
-
Trish,
That is the way I interpreted things too. I found it easier to comprehend after finding the 1841 census, for James and Elizabeth. It was the age difference, which initially confused me...
James married Ann FISHER and then re-married, Elizabeth WRIGHT, 1818. They had two children;
(i) Elizabeth(G-G-G-Grandmother), who married George HANCOCK, 1840, in Alverstoke, Gosport, Hampshire. Died 1880, agian, in Gosport.
(ii) James, born 1826. I have no other details relating to him.
Personally I think WRIGHT is the correct surname, with there being like surnames in Durley, and the immediate area. I could find no further reference to the name WEIGHT. I dismissed that as a mis-spelling...
Elizabeth married Robert Jones, 1849, in Dursley, Glos.. She is shown as Betty JONES. They had no children...
Thank you for your assistance

Am just restoring a longcase clock by Edmund Weight of Dursley who was a clockmaker near the marketplace in Dursley 200 years ago. Engraved/scratched on the brass at the back are the names of those who serviced it. There are six entries and one from September 9th Eighteen Thirty is by a Vizard and I think the initial of the forename is J. Would you know if this makes sense?
Kind regards
Jon
