Hello,
Can anyone tell me if there was a Kidd Street in Dundee? My grandmother was born there in 1897, but I have not been able to locate this street on maps, old or new.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
-
There is this mention regarding Kidd Street
On the 1871 OS map of Dundee there is a Kidd Street off Hillbank Road. A
"land" is a small lane perhaps built on land belonging to a Mr. Kidd.

This I think is the 1871 NLS map that is mentioned http://maps.nls.uk/townplans/dundee_2.html
Hillbank Road in Dundee shows on modern maps (assuming it is the same one mentioned). This might help you to locate where Kidd Street was.

I am now cross-eyed but I found it :P
This is the 1871 map ref sheet mentioned http://maps.nls.uk/townplans/view/?sid=74415467&mid=dundee_2_centre
Look to bottom r/h corner - below Alexander Street and Hillbank Road.
There is mention of Kidd Street that I can see online through to the 1940s at least. The last online NLS map that I can see is for 1912 http://maps.nls.uk/atlas/bartholomew/page.cfm?id=1208
