Margaret Jordan, the Cork genealogist, has been fighting this battle for many years. She had hoped to get them up on irishgenealogy.ie but they are going up on RootsIreland:
http://irish-genealogy-news.blogspot.ie/2012/07/cork-records-to-go-online-after-18-year.html

Margaret Jordan has led a courageous campaign and I for one am disappointed that after all these years, the general public are now expected to pay for records which should be made free.

I am just grateful to have them online, period.

Well done Margaret. I'll be saving my remaining free index searches for these records. They are my only hope at the moment of finding my people.

Please, can anyone tell me if ALL the parishes in Cork City (both RC and C of I) will be available?
Thanks,
Chris

As far as I know this is just RC. There is some information here about a COI project

The Records for St Marys & St Anns should have been put up on
www.irishgenealogy.ie as it was the Irish tax payer who paid to have the
transcriptions done. It was done under a Government job scheme.
We had been promised that these records would be added to the
Irish genealogy site and available to everybody freely.
A good few people that I know here in Cork are also taking up the issue
with the relevant people, although it does seem like it is too late as
obviously an agreement has been made at this stage to sell these
records commercially.
We will have to wait and see if they change their minds!!!

Thanks Sonas and Celtic Liberty for your replies. I've been waiting for years to view these records; I just hope that the marriage(s) that I want to see will be there! I too think that it is wrong to charge people to view information which I feel ought to be available freely and easily; I just don't know if anything can be done about it. I'd be very willing to sign a petition, but at this stage, I'm not sure that it would make any difference.

What information do you have and what are you looking for ?

Hi Celtic Liberty,
I'm trying to find the following marriage, in the Diocese of Cork and Ross (ie Roman Catholic):
Ellis Dudley married 1809 Mary Blakeney
I got the information from familysearch site but frustratingly, it was submitted and therefore I have not been able to verify the facts - it just states that it came from the Albert Eugene Casey study. I would love to know the exact parish, date and any other info - possibly witnesses (although I doubt that there will be any). Research would also suggest that it took place in Cork City, but again, I am unable to verify this. I have been told that if I could get to a library, like Cork, that has a copy of the Casey study, then it probably could be located, by using the name index, at the back.
There are other Dudley marriages (eg Guilford Dudley in 1807 to Rebecca Boddy and George Dudley in 1808 to Mary Williams - I think these may well be Ellis' brothers). If only I could get myself to Cork!

Hi Chris, Kit54,
I remember you had a query on the Cork board for these
surnames. At the time I did check the Cathedral of
St Mary & St Anns ( which is RC and known in Cork as
the North Cathedreal) at the Cork County library. Nothing in all volumes of marriages and baptisms for those two surnames.
I had a look at the Rosemary Ffoliott's newspaper index which
is on microfilm at the Cork City library and found some entries
for both Blaneney and Dudley. I will post the details on the
Cork message board. While I don't think they are exactly what
you are looking for they might be some help in the future.

Hi Mary,
Thank you very much indeed for that - I am humbled by all your tremendous and extremely kind efforts on my behalf. I will reply to you on the Cork message board, but please, I need to do a bit more research before I do so.
Kindest regards,
Chris

Is there any news about these records going online soon? I'm hoping to find the marriage record of William John Holland and Jane Grogan who came to Liverpool about 1879, according to family they were from County Cork. Not on civil records. First child born in Liverpool in December 1879.

From what I have heard there is no date as to when or if these records are going on line. The Cathedral is offering its own search service, for a fee, of course. If you know the records are at the Cathedral, and you want to pay, you do have an option.
-
Is there any update on the Cork City records? Roots Ireland says it they are still be compiled by Cork Ancetral Project and don't even list them as coming soon.
Thanks

I have written a e-mail to the people in charge to ask them, once again, when this will happen. If they respond, i will post the information here

Hi,
I am looking for parish records from St Mary's Church (RC) Kilmacabea & Kilfuaghnabeg (Leap)
Specifically the marriage certificate for my great, great, great grandparents Michael Deasy and Ellen Donovan 1831 and I'm still looking for the baptism records for 4 of their 10 children; Joseph, Ellen, Honora, and Brendan Deasy dates unknown. I haven't even started the Donovan's yet, if these records are going up on RootsIreland does this mean there will be no parish records for Cork added to www.irishgenealogy.com anytime soon?

Records for the RC parish of Kilmacabea (civil parishes of Kilfaughnabeg & Kilmacabea) are included on the Irish Genealogy website - see : link (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/search.jsp?name2fm=&name2l=&namefm=&namel=&location=&dd=&mm=&yy=&submit=Search&sort=date&pageSize=100&diocese=CORK+%26+ROSS+%28RC%29&parish=KILMACABEA¢ury=&decade=&exact=&ddB=&ddM=&ddD=&mmB=&mmM=&mmD=&yyB=&yyM=&yyD=&locationB=&locationM=&locationD=&member0=&member1=&member2=&member3=&member4=&member5=&member6=&member7=&member8=&member9=&namef0=&namef1=&namef2=&namef3=&namef4=&namef5=&namef6=&namef7=&namef8=&namef9=&namel0=&namel1=&namel2=&namel3=&namel4=&namel5=&namel6=&namel7=&namel8=&namel9=&keyword=)
Baptism and marriage records for the parish go back to mid 1832

Hi Shane,
I should have said "fresh" records! I've been through the records for Cork on irishgenealogy and been waiting for some fresh records. When I read this it occurred to me, if rootsireland gets this bunch of records it could be a very long time before anymore fresh ones are added to irishgeneaolgy.

You may be able to purchase these records from the cathedral as they now charge for the same information that is free on irishgenealogy.ie. There is no telling if/when the Cork City records will be put on line. I am waiting for a reply from the County Cork people as to a possible date. I have escalated it since the person has not returned any of my 3 e-mails to him. Hopefully, I will hear something.
-
specifically on the RC parish of Kilmacabea I dont think there are any more records to add... 1832 is a far back as they go as far as I can tell.
In the 1830s the RC parish Church is just east of Leap, and marked as 'Ballyhilloe Chapel', by the 1890s there's newer church in the village shown as 'St. Faughnan's Chapel'

Good news re records on line.
The CIGO ( Council of Irish Genealogical organisations) (www.cigo.ie/news) have a very interesting item on their site stating that the GRO index will be coming online shortly on the Government sponsored website www.irishgenealogy.ie
This is brilliant news for everybody searching for their ancestors as these records will
be freely available.
Keep an eye out for this!!! Don't know exactly when this will happen but worth waiting for!!!

Are these Cork City records or something else? I have written to Mr. O'Sullivan 5 times and all of the e-mails went unanswered. The person there spoke to him and told her that yes he has received all of my e-mails.
-
Hi Barb,
It seems like they will be for all of Ireland. Hopefully!!!!!
