Hi bell,
Just looking for the marriage. The only death for a Joel Wainwright in 1916 was in Glossop aged 85 - did he marry at the age of 83?

Wasn't it the son or daughter of Joel who married there???

Aah maybe! I was thinking good luck to him! ;D

Hi bell,
I can only see 2 children from the census - Louisa and Charles Richard - but can't see any obvious marriages that would fit with the information so that I can search for a likely church - what is the source of your information?
Thanks,
Jean

I've found the marriage of Charles Richard Wainwright to Ada Lavinia Hulme at Marple All Saints 10th June 1891 - he and father Joel both Chartered Accountants.
I think that Louisa married Percy Woodhouse in 1883 at Disley.
Does any of this fit with what you know?

jd gen thankyou yes it does fit in but i think it was one of joels relations or perhaps his grand children i have a book with the picture of the wedding in 1914 written by chris makepiece un less the date is wrong idont know were joels children got m from bell

The Baptist Chapel was in Wellington Street, Gorton, Manchester. You can see the Chapel on the 1908 map at http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html?coords=388750,396040

I suggest that you look on
www.lancashirebmd.org.uk
as there are several marriages for Wainwright in the Manchester area for 1914

thanks heather i dont know which wainwright they are from bell

As far as I can see Louisa and Percy had:
1. Ernest Woodhouse b 1884 Prestwich
2. John Woodhouse b 1885 Prestwich
3. Nora Woodhouse b 1888 Prestwich
4. Frank Woodhouse b 1891 Prestwich
All shown on www.lancashirebmd.org.uk with mmn WAINWRIGHT
Charles & Ada had:
1. Ruby M Wainwright b 1896
2. Richard Geoffrey Wainwright b 1901 Marple
3. Mary Kathleen Wainwright b 1902 Marple
4. Charles Brian Wainwright b 1905 Marple
All but Ruby shown on www.cheshirebmd.org.uk with mmn HULME
I can't see any obvious fit for a 1914 marriage, the Wainwright children would seem to be too young.

Found this snippet by googling "Ruby Mabel Wainwright":
1919 Commander G. W. Woodhouse, R.N. elder son of W. Woodhouse of Sutton, Macclesfield engaged to Ruby Mabel Wainwright, elder dau of Col. C. R. Wainwright, D.L., M.B.E., of Brabyns House, Marple, Cheshire. (From The London Times)
