The photo has rounded corners, its about 4"x2" and is a creamy/yellow colour.  Thanks for your help.  Jeni

By size it sounds like a carte de visite Jeni,would be better if we could see it though.Can you scan and post it on here.Include the back if there are any photographer's details on it.

1870s is the date, but we would need to see the outer corners to pin it down more.  If they are truly rounded (and not just worn down) then it's probably late in the 70s.

This photographer was listed at that address from 1879 to 1886 although he had been in business for a few years before that in North City Road. The business continued after 1886 at various addresses until the late 1890's (although by that time it was known as Martin, Wohlgemuth & Co.)
