Title: Court appearane / HMP Stafford 1950's
Post by: Hercule Poirot on Monday 02 July 12 10:13 BST (UK)
The person I am researching is a Denis  Shadbolt

During the late 1940's / 1950's he was "sentenced" to about 6 weeks "inside" having B&B at Stafford, he received this board and lodge for not paying maintenance in respect of a child who the mother claimed was his. I have searched through the London Gazette online as they listed many "legal" issues but couldn't find any reference.

Can any member who has Staffordshire knowledge point me in the right direction to confirm what I have been told

Hi Hercule Poirot.

Have you tried the local newspapers for information.  This link might help

You can search the court record books at Staffs RO, but they are very
sensitive about these 'recent' archives. I can't remember the criteria
in place for viewing, but I am sure they would provide you with the
guidelines.
