Do you have any more information?
I've looked under "George Harris" and the service number and not found anything yet.
Does it give any further information on the edge of the medals?

I think it's your man, there's a medal record card for those two medals only and a service record on Ancestry.
He seems to have spent a lot of time in Egypt and survived a bout of Influenza!

hi.i have seen that one.i am not sure as r4-095418 was born in battle and died there,my grandad died in hawhurst.have looked at that record several times and i am not sure.am going to see the medals for myself next week (they are kept at the British Legion in Hawkhurst and will check the details on the rim.thanks

hi.so have checked the medals they have r4-095448 on them.sooo then i searched the number and it came up with a phillip bass.this is so strange.i am beginning to think the one from battle may be the one.
-
onwards.the phillip bass soldier had a number of r4-095442.so thats cleared.however i have since found r4-095448 assigned to william green, this is with the national archives.perplexed as to why the number is different on the medal but it cannot be right.consquently any information about the other george harris r4-09518 would be gratefully recieved. ;)

An interesting one, two possible options are 1 There was a mix up when stamping the medals, 2 He lost them and bought some similar ones to replace them?
Do you access to Ancestry?

looked further and 095448 is attached to william gibb.not quite sure what has happened here.that is a definite its on the national archives.i still access ancestry but cannot find another link to george.on the records for 095418 its got his forwarding address as gills green hawkhurst.my george worked at gills green.have checked the next of kin... a friend.cant really find much about her.i think there is a bit of a cover up here.maybe he wasnt george harris at all.cant find his birth anywhere he was supposedly from kidderminster but nothing matches his wedding certificate.bit of a bump

Can anyone help me pleaseeeeee?
My Grandfather James Maclean was in the RAMC., but have been told he was on board S.S. Manchester when it was torpedoed in WW1.
I was also told that sometimes people in different forces were lent out to others for whatever reasons.
I know he was backwards and forwards from Liverpool to Canada and this is when the ship went down.
I only have on his death certificate "Army Disability Pensioner". I have no service number as I can't find any war records for him, as his was probably among those that got burnt during WW2 in London.
Any help I would appreciate I have been trying to many years.
Thanks.

Hi thanks for getting back to me.
James Maclean born July 1877 to Alexander Maclean and Elizabeth Black. Born in Nairn in Scotland.
He led a double life I am sure of it as I have him on a Census working in Edinburgh as a Solicitor and then told he was in the RAMC.,
His ship went down in the Atlantic I know that for sure as he was found literally floating in the water nearly dead.
I have a faded newsdpaper copy of him and he looked quite tall. He also suffered shell shock quite badly my Mum tells me.
He was one of 11 children.
This is all that I know personally about him, although I did find him on a ships passanger list in 1912 heading to Innisfail.
Thanks very much for your help.
