Title: Elizabeth Marie Stoneham
Post by: 20 STONE NED on Friday 29 June 12 22:49 BST (UK)
Elizabeth Maria Stoneham was the daughter of Maria Stoneham and the grandchild of Edward Stoneham and Elizabeth Taylor . She was born, I think ,in Kettlebaston ,father unknown. I am trying to trace the name of the father. Elizabeth Maria would be my great, grandmother. Any thoughts please.

There is no birth reg on freebmd for her and nothing on the IGI.  It was very rare to see a fathers name on the birth cert or baptismal entry of an illegitimate child whose parents were not living together, so I very much doubt you will ever find who her father was.

Any fathers name on her marriage cert with the same surname would be unreliable as many illegitimate children made up a fathers name when they married to give themselves an air of respectability.

Hi Carole

Thanks for your promt response. I must try to get her marrige cert just to be sure .Elizabeth married Ruben James Wheeler(coachman for Dr Waller Chelmsford) in St Mary's Bromfield Essex 17th March1882 so records might be a little more reliable then.

Best Wishes
Ned  (My great grand father who could carry 20 stone cornsacks on his back without stopping ,for 6 k ,to get home from village)
