Hi-looking for decendants of Alexander Paterson and Isabella Wardrop who emigrated to NZ in 1922 and settled in Denniston.
-
Hello...
I came across a 2004 post on RootsWeb and followed up the children mentioned using the BDM NZ website.
Rootsweb 2004 Post (no.17)
http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/SCT-FIFE/2004-01/1073117412
-------
Using surname PATERSON and given name CUMMINGS in the BDM NZ Deaths search returns...
2007/27 - WARNE, Isabella Cumming - d.o.b 5 March 1905
which possibly leads to this marriage...
1926/9058 - Isabella PATERSON to John Morrison WARNE
BDM NZ Search website
https://www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/search/
His record of cremation is on the Palmerston North cemetery database (http://www.pncc.govt.nz/ServicesAndFacilities/OnlineServices/CemeteryAndCremationSearch.aspx)
Her record of cremation is on the Porirua Council cemetery database (http://www.pcc.govt.nz/cemetery/Frameset_search.asp).
His cremation record lists an address c.1973. You may want to check electoral rolls of the time and see if there are any children listed at the address.
There may also be a death notice in the Manawatu Standard. If you contact the Palmerston North library they sometimes have genealogy volunteers who will do look-ups. Contact the "New Zealand and Pacific Islands Librarian" with your request.

------
The Wellington Index (http://www.genealogy-index.co.nz/) lists the date of the death notice for Isabella WARNE as 28 Dec 2006. It doesn't mention the newspaper but it's most likely the Dominion. Possibly ask for a death notice look-up here on the board. Or if you're in a major centre your library is more than likely to have a microfilm of the issue.
Isabella's death notice may mention children.
------
I have a feeling James Wardrope PATERSON and his wife Williamina had no children but have no proof of that.
His death records are on the Dunedin Cemetery website (http://www.dunedin.govt.nz/facilities/cemeteries/cemeteries_search). Her records are on the Wellington Cemetery website (http://www.wellington.govt.nz/services/cemeteries/search/search.php)
------
Alexander 1909-1960 is buried in what seems to be a mass grave in Orowaiti cemetery. It's the same cemetery as his father but a different area.

This is all dependant on the Rootsweb post being accurate. If it is I hope some of the above helps you find descendants. If it isn't let us know and we'll start again.

Many thanks for quick reply to my request.
Have tried but failed (so far) to contact originator of that 2004 post you mentioned as I believe they are decendants of my family-will keep chasing.
In the mean time, the info you've provided will help me keep me plugging away.
Once again-big thanks

Would one of the Wardrop Family you may be looking for include an Agnes Wardrop who's parents would be a William Gillespie and a Margaret Ellesmore Crawford of Denny which is not to far away from Dennistoun.?
They had relatives who were Patterson's.

Hi T,
The reference to Denniston is a place in NZ not the UK.
Cheers Janette

Fair enough it's just spelt nearly the same.
My Mistake.

Hello Son of a Fifer...
Have PM'd you some contact details for the Rootsweb poster.
Have checked electoral rolls and am reasonably sure it's her twitter page (but I have been wrong before :-)
Hello Spades (if you're out there :-)
Are we allowed to post a link to a twitter page on the main board or is it treated similar to an email address (which technically it isn't as one's an email address and the other is a plain old web page)
Regards

Hi Beg,
If the link reaches an individual rather than an organisation and can therefore potentially breach personal privacy exposing the recipient to the risk of spam, identity theft, etc. then no.
I'd far rather the information was sent by PM.
