I am trying to trace information on a relative Isobel (or Isabell or Isabella) Macartney
Daughter ofMatthew and Margaret Jane Macartney of Cromkill/Kilbride outside Ballymena Co Antrim Northern Ireland
She was born in Kilbride Co Antrim around the 1920's
She served in the Royal Air Force I think during WW2.
I know her married name was McKnight but have no further information.
Any information would be appreciated.

When is the last record you have of Isobel? For privacy reasons much recent information is not available online- latest Irish census is 1911, online civil registration index onlygoes up to 1921 for Northern Ireland counties, etc.). For this same reason I've removed the photograph since there is still a chance Isobel might be alive.

Thank you for this. I have no records for Isobel except the name given to me by someone who saw the photograph I had and told me who here parents were. As far as I am aware she has died.
I am trying to find out where she went to and who her family are. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi,
This could be Isobel and her family in 1901 but mother's name is Ann so it may be grandparents.. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Antrim/Kells/Cromkill/931034/

Hi,
Parents may be Matthew McCartney and Margaret Jane Hanna who married in Glenwhirry Presbyterian Church, Ballymena on 1 Nov 1916.

The birth registered in the first quarter of 1921 sounds about right.
Is it possible to get further details, parents name address and date of birth?
If possible how do I go about it?
Can it be done online?
Thanks

If it is any help, an Isabella Macartney was born to Matthew and Ann Macartney of Cromkill around 1898. This is the family in the census record above. Your Isobel could be a daughter or niece of this one. It is very common in this family for members to be named after an aunt or uncle. Matthew did have a son Matthew who was born around 1892. Perhaps he was married to Margaret Jane? Incidentally, if her maiden name is Hanna, one of Matthew's sisters married a Hanna. Again, not uncommon in those days when travel was limited. Thanks.
