Post by: aarpee on Sunday 24 June 12 10:33 BST (UK)
I am researching for my sister-in-law the Doyle Family from County Down.
This is my first forage into Irish FH so I'm looking for some pointers.
I'm looking for John Doyle born 1819 Cty Down who married a Mary also born Cty Down
1841 census John Doyle is working in Scotland as a servant without his family I take it he sailed from Ireland to Stranraer? to start a new life for his family around the time of the Potato Famine
1851 census moves to Castlecarrock with his family
They had the follwing children.
Peter born 1840 beleived to be Drumaroad
Catherine 1843 Ireland
John bn 1848 in Dumfrieshire
James 1851 Castlecarrock and many more...anybody with any info I would grafefully accepted.

I am a Doyle but not of this group.  I am doing research into the Doyles and I have visited the County Down Doyle's.  There is even a Doyle's Road in that area.  There is still a lot of Doyle's living in the area.  The oldest person there who I spoke too said that the Doyle's of that area came from Dublin.  Keep searching and I think you will get the info that you want.  Good Luck!

Hi,
My mum is Doyle, a lot of her brothers and sister live in Drumaroad, although they are originally from the Dromara / Dechomet area. Good luck x

Hi

My gg grandmother is Agnes Doyle who married and Henry (Harry Murray) in about 1860 and lived in Clonvarghan, which isn't far from Drumaroad. Unfortunately I do not know who her parents are.

Their son George, also married a Maggie Doyle, who is the daughter of Arthur Doyle - this marriage was in 1890 and I have been able to find 2 daughters Mary Georgina and Margaret Louisa.

I don't know if this of any help to you, but hopefully it is, and if anyone is able to provide me with any information on Agnes and Henry Murray, please do - I would like to know who their parents are.
