Post by: Jtyner on Friday 22 June 12 19:32 BST (UK)
hi all, i am going to scotland in 2 weeks and am doing some family history reaearch. my great great grandmother helen robertson nee cropper died in 1898 and i guess is buried in partick. she married alexander robertson in 1859 edinburgh but they moved to Broomhill drive  between 1881 and 1891 and lived there upto 1911 as far as i can find. their daughter my grt grandmother alice may robertson married in 1900 in st mary's church partick. i dont know that area very well and hope to visit the church and find where other family members are buried, if there is a cemetery nearby. sorry if my query is a bit vague. i would appreciate any help offered in guiding me around the landmarks so i can visualise where the church and cemetery are. i think they are near the ibrox stadium!

I'm almost sure that the big church at the bottom of Peel St was demolished some years ago, perhaps someone else may verify that?
As for being close to Ibrox stadium - I hope you are a good strong swimmer!
The nearest cemetery to Partick would be the Western Necropolis, check the Links on the page above.

The church in Peel Street was demolished late 1980s early 1990s, there wasn't a burial ground attached to the church, nearest would be Western Necropolis, but do not rule out Craigton, which lies close to Ibrox stadium and would only have been a short crossing on the many ferries which cris-crossed the River Clyde between Partick & Govan. In fact Craigton, is marginally closer to Partick (as the crow flies) than the Western Necropolis.
