Does anyone know if the Prestbury marriage records contain any information on the parentage of the bride?
My interest is in Martha Arrowsmith who married John Duncan there 21 Dec 1784. FamilySearch has her resident at Saltersford-cum-Kettleshulme at that time.
John Duncan was a Scottish soldier - he took her home after leaving the army and they had 3 children Alexander, George & William baptised in Cabrach parish between 1788 & 1792 - these records have her as Martha Harrowsmith (Scottish records always name the mother by her maiden name).
I assume she must have been born between 1747-1767.

Hello there.....
I have found a baptism for a MARTHA ARROWSMITH, which took place April 25th 1762 at
CAPESTHORNE, Cheshire. Fathers name was John.
Looking at my trusty map, I can see that Capesthorne is only a couple of miles from Macclesfield.
Hope this helps

There seems to be a glitch on FamilySearch that has Salterford-cum-Kettleshulme for many Prestbury records - the originals are on FindMyPast and they're using the same transcriptions. So far all the Prestbury records I've looked at which have been transcribed as Saltersford-cum-Kettleshulme have been for people with other places of residence - it seems to have got in as the standard for all Prestbury parish ::)
