how were domestic servants recruited from wales to work in London about 1923/25

Positions were often advertised in newspapers.  Outsiders were often preferred to local staff - less chance of gossip being spread round the neighbourhood.  :-X

It also may have been possible that servants put in recommendations for friends or relatives.

As I understand it, young people would do into domestic service locally for a short time (to 'learn the ropes'), and then move on to more lucrative work in the larger cities.  Recruitment would either be via recommendation or via small advertisements in newspapers.
