Post by: nicholpope on Saturday 16 June 12 09:18 BST (UK)
Hi.

I am trying to find what happened to the children of William Henry Evans (1861 - 1942) and Eva Emily Domican (1864 - 1944)

Census records for the family:
1891 - Folio 134 Piece 4400 Page 22 (41 Bromsgrove St, Canton, Glamorgan)

1911 - Reg Dist No 588 Piece 32161 Schedule no 545(109 Paget St Grange, Cardiff)

Family Home at Time of William's Death: 53 Llanmaes-Street

Children i would like to know more about:

Eliza Florence Evans 1884 - Uknown
Husband: Augustus Henry Thole (1884 – 1941) Marriage 1904 Cardiff
Children: 1 child with Augustus but died before 1911 census where Eliza is not living with her husband
Other Info: Elliza is told to be known as Lily who moved to San Francesco, USA possibly not with Augustus

Albert Evans 1895 - 1982
Wife - Uknown
Children - Uknown

James Domican Evans 1898 - Uknown
Wife - Uknown
Children - Uknown
Other: in 1926 James is traveling back from Lagos west coast Africa on board the Abinsi ran by the shipping line Elder Dempster and Company. His country of last perminant residence is Gold Coast and his proposed address in the UK is 53 Llanmaes Street, Grangetown.

Any help filling in some gaps would be really appreciated.

only indirect info so far. Augustus Thole remarried in march qtr 1923 to Ruth Jones, so Eliza looks to be out of the picture by this time.

Child that died looks to be Eva, birth & death in june qtr 1905.

I thought that it was unusual for some one to remarry if they was not a widow  ??? i can not seem to find any passenger records of Eliza leaving the UK.

certainly doesn't seem to leave under the name Thole. Did Eliza marry as a widow then?

it might be worth getting the 1923 marriage cert to see what status it gives for Augustus.

Have you looked for Eliza F in the US databases on FamilySearch?

Hi, are you related to Eva Emily Domican? She was my great aunt, her father James Domican was my great great grandfather and I would be interested to find out anything about the Domican family.
Thanks

Hi I am also a great grandson of William Henry Evans and trying to locate my own family roots etc. I am the grandson of William Thomas Evans.

I can tell you that Eliza did emigrate to Canada before the first world war and re-married bigamously as far as I understand. That was why she never re-entered the UK. On my family tree I posted a picture of Eliza in her 80s in America. She lived to a lively old age and was an active citizen over there. If you require more information I can ask within the family.

James Evans married and moved to Teignmouth and my father was evacuated to live with him there during the Second World War, during the first war he worked on the development of the first tanks I am led to believe.

As for Albert Evans I believe he has still has living relatives and I can ask my uncle who is one of William Thomas's sons.

If you send me a private message on here I can send you my address for you to contact me and perhaps we can share research information.

Regards
Andy

I forgot to mention I have in my possession a medal awarded to William Henry. It is gold and has the coat of arms of Cardiff as a city on it. It says it was awarded to W H Evans in 1916 but doesn't say why on the inscription so if anybody knows anything about it and could tell me that would be great.
