I am looking for information on a James Pitcher who is recorded on the 1891 cencus as being in the Loddon Workhouse.I think from BMD that he probably died there in 1891 age 71. He appears in the 1881 cencus as a lodger with a Joseph Armsley but his wife Caroline is living elsewhere. (Very interesting - wonder what happened there). Are there any admission records etc for the workhouse?
Thanks Chris

Hello Chris,
I believe the Loddon Workhouse was at and known as Heckingham Workhouse.
The Workhouse burials are online and free to view. I could only find a James Peacher, aged 70 when he died in February 1892 - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11613-5418-72?cc=1824706&wc=9019650
Funnily enough, there are Admission and Discharge Registers online too.
But there are over 6,000 pages, and the entries are a bit higgledy piggledy.

Hi Chris.
Just had a look at my index and have a james Peacher of woodton buried there on 03.02.1892 aged 70.
Is this your man? I believe it is.
Its worth a look at the burial register for the parish church of Heckingham in case he was buried there, also for his own parish of woodton.
The workhouse did have it's own consecrated ground.
Regards Roger

I found on the discharge pages a James Pitcher died July 1891 and disscharged as dead! I think the James Peacher is another person who prehaps was buried at the workhouse may someone came and collected my James.
Thanks for looking
