Hi Colin,
I have Christian Taylor born in abt. 1780. She married Thomas Murray 1800 Trinity Gask.
I have a suspicion that Christian was Christian Erskine Taylor the daughter of Alexander Taylor and Janet Burn, born Nov. 5, 1780 at Muthill.
No proof as yet, but the family names are all identical.
Do you have anything on this family?

Hi Deb & Colin,
Do you have any links to the Blackford Taylors? I am the grandaughter of James ScobieTaylor who married Helen Taylor on 29 Apr 1803 in Blackford. James's father was Robert Taylor from Buttergask.
Regards,
Scottietoo

Hi Scottietoo,
At the moment, I don't have any links to your Blackford Taylors, but you never know what future research might bring to light. :)
I am really quite stuck on my Taylor family. I have not been able to find Christian Taylor and her Husband Thomas Murray in any census. They were married in 1800, so my only hope may be the 1841 or 1851... but that's pushing it!
I have also tried in vain to find Christian's death certificate, but nothing listed on Scotlands People. So she must have died before the beginning of Civil Reg. in 1855.
This is my brick wall family. And they seemed to move around a fair bit - married in Trinity Gask, children born in Fowlis Wester and Monzie, then another move possibly to Crieff, whick is where they may have been during the census of 1841.
Oh well, maybe someone else will recognise our families and hold some answers to our puzzles!

Dear Deb,
What a co-incidence. I was born in Fowlis Wester in 1944 and one of my Taylor cousins lives there now. We have recently found a "cousin" in New Zealand.
I am sorry to hear you have hit a brick wall on Christian. I think these taylors are probably all connected way back. My Father always said we were descended from Rob Roy MacGregor and we used to laugh but I recently found a Mac Gregor link.
Regards,
Scottie in Cornwall

Rob Roy MacGregor eh?? Well, that would be something to find a link to such a romantic figure!
You are in Cornwall now? We were there in March for a week visiting Bodmin, Wadebridge, St. Ives, Penzance... it was gorgeous. :) :)

I have a Rev James Taylor who was the father of Marjory Taylor b. 1786 in Caputh, Perthshire. The Rev went to Virginia and that's all I know about him. Marjory married William Graham in Fife and I have all of that family, but know nothing of the Rev and his wife [possibly Isabel Steel].
I have been researching this Rev since 1979 when I inherited a family Bible with his details. So I'd be over the moon to find out anything at all.

I am totally new to geneology, I came across this forum while searching for some information on the Rev James Taylor and was amazed to find a reference to him here, my mother was a Robertson and was descended from Andrew Robertson and Janet Graham of Carnock, I have started to collect information on the Robertsons, Grahams and Taylors but I am just in the early stages, I would appreciate any information on any of the above, this is my first post on this site and I am not sure what to expect.
regards Alan

Oh my gosh Alan, you really should email me personally- I've got it all for you. Hundreds of Robertsons and Grahams but only one or two Taylors unfortunately!

Hello Everyone!!
The person I am stuck at is a William Taylor. He married a Jean, but I don't know her maiden name. They had 2 children, David Taylor and Helen Fotheringham Taylor. I was stonewalled at David Taylor for a long time. he is the one who emigrated from Scotland to the US. I found William and Jean in an old book on Google Books, "Cases decided in the Court of session (Teind court, and House of lords) from ... " By Alexander Dunlop. William was born abt 1783 and died Jul 1854, or at least that is the information I have been able to locate. If any one has any additional information I would very much appreciate it. I would love to find out and information on William's parents and/or on Jean and her family.
Thank You!!

This I think relates to families referred to in postings by Beppy & Hursty52 above.
My ancestor is Marion Graham (I think born c. 1815, Carnock). As far as I can establish, her parents were William Graham and Marjory Taylor. From reading this thread, I am guessing that Marion's sister was Janet (who married Andrew Robertson, per above).
To help confirm it is the same family, would anyone be able to advise if Janet had a sister named Marion?
Unfortunately, I have no other information yet on the Rev Taylor (Marjory's father), though I've seen his specific reference on Marjory's death certificate.
Thanks
David

I have hundreds of people originating from the son of William Smeaton born 1760 and Isabella Soutar born 1760. He was named William Smeaton and was born in 1798.
I have this couple's offspring down to my cousin and her family in Liverpool, Merseyside.
I have no "sideways" family history for this couple, though, so would welcome any help!
