Title: The Plumstead Peculiars / Cokelers
Post by: Sunshine8 on Thursday 14 June 12 18:45 BST (UK)
Hi,

Does anyone have any information or links I can follow for the Plumstead Peculiars? I have searched Google and all the entries seem to give the same couple of sentences.
My husbands father belonged to this sect and we are hoping to find out a bit more about them and verify a link to his mum and dads meeting in West Sussex.
Any snippet you add will be useful.
Thanks

Hi

This is a bit more detail than a couple of sentences.

You could also try:

Greenwich Heritage Centre, Royal Arsenal, SE18 4DX

I know that some time ago there was a picture/postcard on ebay, do not know if it is still there.

Hope this helps

Hi

The Cokelers seem to be in Sussex but the Plumstead Peculiers were in Essex.
Two different sects I would think even if similar?

Did the OP find any other information on the PPs?

Thanks

I have just published a biography of John Sirgood, a Peculiar preacher and contemporary of James Banyard. (Sirgood was my great-great-grandfather's brother.) It relates the entire history of the Peculiar People and the Sussex Dependants. It is available on Amazon.

Many thanks.
