Title: South Metropolition District School
Post by: Raspay on Thursday 14 June 12 10:09 BST (UK)
Has anyone found admission records for the South Metropolitan District School for 1876/7/8/9/80 when it was in Sutton, Surrey. I think my grandmother was sent there when she was an infant and then from there to Witham Essex in her teens. Her name was Louisa Harding and she was born in Stepney.

Hi Derek

What survives has been deposited at the London Metropolitan Archives.

the reference is SMSD, the click on the name under the collection title. Keep clicking on child items to go further.

What you're looking for is most probably in SMSD-7

Hi again

I've just checked your profile and you haven't told us where in the world you are so I don't know if you can make a day trip.

Researchers in and around London who can help out with look-ups are few and far between. You might have a long wait.

I do know the LMA has a research service if you can't make a personal visit but it costs £50 per hour.

Many thanks for the information.
As I live in Spain, I will have to wait until I visit the UK next to view the records.

I'm always in and out of Sutton Local Archives, I'll see if they have anything next time I'm there.
