Title: Marriage look up please
Post by: streza on Thursday 07 June 12 15:07 BST (UK)
Marriage date please for Albert Griffiths b 1883 in Flint Flintshire to Elizabeth Ann Lloyd b 1881 in Flint Flintshire.

I do know this family existed as I frequently visited the daughter Violet who lived with her brother Llewelyn (both unmarried) in Connahs Quay Flintshire in the 1950's.

Elizabeth Lloyd would have been my Father's Aunty.

I have 5 children but no birth dates Llewelyn, Albert, Neville, Violet and Vera!!  These childrens names are from my Father's paperwork, so I am not sure if they are from the same family.

I have looked through the year census, north wales BMD, cheshire BMD and still not found them!!!

Any ideas would be welcome!
Regards
Sandra

Whilst I'm not finding the marriage as you descibe, the only child's name that you gave that fits is a Vera Griffiths in the Holywell District in 1914.She is the only one and I of course looked in Cheshire as well.

The strangest of things,I attempted to search for a marriage of an Elizabeth Ann Lloyd anywhere in England/Wales on Free BMD 1909 +- 5 years on Ancestry and the search results ended in 1910?

On NorthWalesBMD between 1902 and 1915, I found births for:

    7 x Albert (3 plain Albert + 4 with second name)
    2 x Llewelyn
    1 x Neville
    1 x Vera
    1 x Violet M

If you contact the Register Office at Mold (they're always very helpful) you should be able to confirm whether Neville, Vera & Violet are yours, then go through the others to find the same parents.

Once you find the youngest, we might then be able to find the parents' marriage.

Looking from a census viewpoint, there appears to be only one candidate for Albert Griffiths and I think he marries Alice Maud Atherton in Cheshire in 1908.
Albert would have been of an age whereby he might have fought in WW1.Even assuming he survived it and his wife died(there is a death of an Alice Griffiths approx. the right age, registered Holywell 1919) I cannot find another marriage as you describe.

Last night I went through genes census dates from 1910 (wedding date as above) and up to 1925. I found Vera and Violet with mothers name Lloyd, but none of the others.
It looks as though he married first in Cheshire became a widower and then met Elizabeth.

I couldn't open the 1910 census to check, there appears to have been a problem with the site last night.

I should have thought about Mold when I lived in Wales I went to the library to look at the archives every week!!!

Just tried Genes again and still unable to veiw the 1910 census!!

Thanks to everyone who has given me info on this family.

Roger

Looking at the list of names in your message I was interested in your North Wales list.  I find you have 'Gabriel' as one of the names.

Do we have a match with Margaret Gabriel b 26th Nov 1864, at Pen -y - Cae Mold,  she married Evan Roberts b 8th April 1861 Mostyn Flintshire?

regards
Sandra

I am at a loss on a number of fronts.I didn't have a North Wales list and that from "taidgazacaz" didn't have a Gabriel as listed. Are you also now saying that you accept Albert Griffiths never married Elizabeth Ann LLoyd, the children(whichever ones?)being hers, and possibly therefore Lloyd not being her birth name,or do you think they were not born in wedlock? It's all a bit difficult as none have been positively identified at birth.

Hi Roger

Apologies to you I can see now that it was William who had the 'Gabriel' name not you.  This is my first time on 'Rootschat' and it can be overwhelming at first with all the replies coming back which also need researching.

I knew this family as you can see on my previous message.
I am not saying the children were born out of wedlock, I've managed to find three!!!

Thank you for researching this family but I feel that I have enough info to go it alone!!!

Regards
Sandra

Your Gabriel family is a different one to mine apparently Sandra.Yours is probably of the Gabriel family that lived in the Leeswood area.
