Hi. I am searching for information regarding the marriage of John William Fields and Winifred Callaghan who wed in Sheffield around 1918, and their families.. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated..

Have a look at www.freebmd.org.uk and you should find the registration and can then order the certificate.

Was it the previous census information you required, for example 1901 and before :

1901 census :
RG13/4365, Folio 51, Page 6.

Yorkshire, Sheffield
52 Broad Lane   

Thomas Callaghan, h, mar, 36, Iron Wks Labourer
Emma, wife, mar, 34, Cigar Maker
Thomas, son, 13, Cutlers Errand Boy
Bernard, son, 7
Leonard, son, 4
Winifred, dau, 2
Edna, dau, 2 mths
John, brother, unm, 29, Fruit Hawker

All born in Sheffield.

As you already know - Emma, the mother of Bernard and Winifred was widowed :

Death, Mar qtr 1909 
Thomas Callaghan, age 42   
Sheffield, Vol 9c, page 372.

I would imagine the above is the correct death registration, but to confirm it you would have to order the certificate.

If you put both these surnames into a search on FreeBMD, with the dates ranging from the time of their marriage - up to about 1930, only three births appear - one of which is your father-in-law.

John William Fields        
Sheffield, Vol 9c, page 483

There is a possibility for the above child on the 1901 census - with parents Benjamin and Jane E, living in Sheffield :

RG13/4361, Folio 105, Page 23.
