Title: PATRICK HORGAN OF CORK CITY
Post by: MAMC on Monday 28 May 12 21:54 BST (UK)
I wonder if anybody would have information on Patrick Horgan.  He was born in Cork Ireland to John Horgan and Mary Horgan (nee Leahy) on 11th June 1859.  He was a brother of my Grandfather Francis Horgan and Patrick emigrated to the U.S.A.  Unfortunately that is all I know about him.  I don't have the year he emigrated but it's my quess it would have been sometime between 1880 and 1890 and the likely destination is either New York or Boston.

There are quite a few immigration records in the timescales.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.  I know absolutely nothing about him except his date of Birth, date of Baptism and Parents names.    I know it's a long shot but i felt it was worth a chance.

Hello!  In the 1881 census, there is a possible candidate serving in the Royal Navy. Otherwise, none others are appearing....  Any family stories about him serving in the Royal Navy before emigrating??  Pat

Hi Pat,
That could be a possibility as he would have been about 22 in 1881.  My Granfather was not born until 1885.  He served with The Leinster Regiment for about 16 years.  1904 until 1920.
