Can anyone help me identify the cap badge in the photograph. This is Geoffrey Barber who was born in Wiltshire on 30th July 1884.
We cannot find any military records and only have this photograph. We are trying to trace his military record so identifying this cap badge would be very helpful.

Is there any chance that you can post a high res' image of just the cap badge as it pixelates too much when enlarged which in turn makes it hard to identify..cheers.
OR.

I will try to but am working from a very small image to begim with.

Cannot do it I am afraid - the image was too small to begin with and this is the best I have which is useless really :(

The only G Barbers I can find are:
G Barber 21132 Essex Regt
G Barber 22198 1/Gan Essex Regt
G Barber 8340 1st Northamptonshire Regt and 22103 Norfolk Regt.
Geoffrey I J Barber 23711 The Queens Regiment
From the shape of the badge it is NOT Norfolk or Queens.

Thanks for this. :)

I'd go for Essex Regiment?!
-
I would go with it being the Army service Corps

The inverted V in the centre of the badge makes me think of the army Veterinary Corps, which has an entwined AVC.

Army Service Corps has monogram ASC within a Garter set upon an 8 pointed star where the North point of the star is covered by a crown. The AVC has a crown above the laurel and the laurel almost meets under the crown.
Could be Corps of Royal Engineers but that has the monogram GvR in the centre but cant make that out on the photo.
