I was wondering if anyone has access to the complete passenger list for the ss OSTERLEY departing London on 11 Oct 1912 and arriving Fremantle, Western Australia November 1912.
In another post - cando replied to dimply with information on a Margaret Fettes arriving on this ship (she was my ggm)
Thankyou so much for this information cando - after reading that post i managed to find the notice of that ships arrival in Fremantle on trove.
The heading in the West Australia Sat 9 November 1912 - was IMMIGRANT DOMESTICS. Apparently 45 domestics arrived on that ship and were available for engagement thru Immigration Home, South Terrace, Fremantle.
I have an old photograph that was taken in Scotland and addressed to my Margaret Fettes' mother in Stockbridge, Scotland and its a very formal affair showing 2 quite stern elderly ladies, one man AND co-incidently 45 young women all with little rosette type badges on!!
I may be totally on the wrong track but i was thinking maybe these were the 45 women who were about to depart to a new life in Australia??
I have had no success trying to find passenger lists online for this era - hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. Unfortunately Battye library is a good 7 hour drive away from here !! lol
As i am new to this forum - please let me know if i have heade this correctly or if its in the wrong section. I did check other look-ups prior to posting.
Cheers

Incoming passenger list to Fremantle "Osterley" arrived 12 November 1912 [only contains passengers disembarking Fremantle - Brisbane list contains full list of crew and passengers disembarking Brisbane]
http://naa.gov.au/
You would need to obtain the information from National Archives Australia.

Passenger no. 884 Margaret Fettes 3rd Class Occupation Domestic Adult Not Accompanied by Husband or Wife Age 21 Country of last permanent residence Scotland Country of Disembarkation Australia
That's all it says, I'm afraid. She is in the middle of a whole group of similarly aged young women, all with occupation 'Domestic'. She is one of very few Scottish ones in there.

Thankyou all for your help :)
I knew it was a long shot that someone else may already have the complete list (well the Fremantle disembarkments anyway).
There is limited online acess to those years here and Perth is a very long way away so i was being impatient! lol I'm sure a phone call tomorrow and i should be able to order it.
Yes she did arrive here on the Osterley , along with 44 other "domestics" - they arrived in Fremantle, November 1912 and there was a newspaper article stating that 45 domestics were arriving and would be available for engagement from Immigration Home, Fremantle on Wednesday afternoon November 13.
Her parents and the rest of the family emigrated the following year.
What a brave young woman my great grandmother was!
The thing is i have this very old, very badly damaged photo that was addressed on the back to her parents back in Edinburgh. We never knew who or what the photo was of. However, now knowing she arrived with 44 other domestics i am making an educated guess!
Its a very formal group photo - two older ladies seated , one man at the side and ......45 smartly dressed young women - all in white blouses and wearing small rosette like ribbons on their chests. I'm betting it was taken either before they left for Australia - or on arrival here in Fremantle in 1912.
This is why i was interested to know of the other passengers names (they may be in the photo) and also to work out whether she may or may not have met her future husband on that same ship!!
Hahahha - its all interesting guess work until proven :)
Many thanks again for your replies
