In Manhattan births, there is a Marjorie P. Alger born Oct. 28, 1900.

Stewart C. Alger married Josephine Pershall on July 14, 1896 in Manhattan.

I see Stewart, Josephine and Marjorie in the 1910 census in Manhattan. By the 1920 census, Josephine is a widow, living with Marjorie.

In the Oct. 6, 1919 NY Times, there is a death notice for Stewart. He died at the home of his brother-in-law, Robert M. Dunn, in Newark, N.J., on Oct. 5, 1919.

Also in the NY Times, April 14 and 15, 1925, Josephine died at East Orange, N.J. on April 13, 1925. Survived by daughter, Marjorie Alger DuBois.

In the 1930 census for East Orange, Marjorie and husband Bernard DuBois, are the parents of Joan and Robert.

Good luck!

Josephine A. Slote married Henry L. R. Pershall about 1879. I do not see a marriage record on the NYC online indexes for this marriage. In the 1900 census, the couple is living with Josephine's mother, Anna Slote, age 99, born July 1800 in Ireland. Josephine has a brother John Slote in the household.

Josephine's obituary appears in the NY Times on Jan. 8, 1909. She was buried at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn on Oct. 9, 1909. She's buried with her mother, Ann J. Slote, interred Jan. 4, 1901, as well as a Lucy E. Slote, buried Jan. 8, 1875.

The Green-Wood Cemetery records index is online.

Henry is included in the Pershall genealogy that shows Josephine's parents as Daniel Slote and Ann Jane Lowney, as well as Henry's parents. Here's the page:

And more here:

http://search.ancestry.com/Browse/BookView.aspx?dbid=12200&iid=dvm_GenMono001640-00160-0

And abstracted marriage records for Brooklyn show Henry and Josephine were married in Brooklyn Dec. 22, 1878.

Thank you for your message.

Josephine Pershall married Stewart Alger.
Next generation back was - Josephine's mother -  Josephine Slote (1837) who married Henry L R Pershall.
Next generation back :- Josephine Slote's parents were Daniel Slote  (1800) and Ann Lowery.

According to the 1930 Census - Marjorie Alger/Dubois was first married at age 20 years, so married after the 1920 census but around that time. Have not found any record of that marriage but you could have a look yourself to see what is available at www.familysearch.org

Cannot name the 2 children of Marjorie and Bernard, although I have the married name of the daughter, have not found any death record so believe her and her brother both to be living .
