Title: where is Mullingde?
Post by: Ruth_T on Monday 21 May 12 09:19 BST (UK)
Hi,  Wondering if anyone can clarify the following?  I have  John Wallace (possibly could be Wallis) but on cenuses in Scotland spelt Wallace born Mullingde County Armagh Ireland father John and Mother Mary Mchon.  I am having difficulty finding this place, I know it could be a spelling mistake so if anyone has knows of something similar any suggestions would be helpful.

Also his wife Jane Wyllie (not sure whether 1 or 2 l's) father Charles and mother Jane Griffin, born Irvine, Linton, Ireland - haven't a clue what county this is in - any clues gratefully recieved.

Thanks

See www.thecore.com/seanruad to find townlands in Ireland- be sure to change default setting from 'exact match' to search with part of word. 'Mull' is used at the start of many townland in Armagh.

Have you looked at the original census page or a transcription? If the latter it might be that the original was hard to read or badly transcribed.
