Hi and welcome to Rootschat...If you have the original photo.....for best results photos should be scanned in colour at a resolution of 300dpi and saved as best quality 100%...this one is only 72dpi and heavily compressed so a lot of fine detail is lost. You can post a file size of 500kb here.

Wawwwww,That was good and quick,I have adobe photoshop 9 but I failed to get it that good,What did you use to get it so great.Regarding the original tes I do have it its a B/W one very poor condition though.

You're welcome...I use Photoshop Elements 5 but I have been "Playing" with photos for five years so keep at it and you will get there with practise ;)

A good scan is the best way forward...in full colour and a minimum resolution of 300dpi...600 for very small photos.
There are some good tutorials online to give you a starting point...youtube is a good one....Just google "Restoring photos with Photoshop 9"
Then when you're confident... you can join us here  ;D

I used paint shop pro 9 for this one but I also have photoshop elements 6. I switch between them :)

Terry,Just a little point ,The photo was good how did you get the photo to look as it was away from the backround and the edges how did you do that I have photoshop 9.

Now that was good,My original id B&W it bit battered now the date taken was around 1962.

It took about two hours using Photoshop Elements 5.0...I guessed it was later than National Service days.... Their hair was too long.  ;D

Treetotal.Many thanks for the link you gave,Very interesting ideas there.
Had a go I did do one item but it was very difficult using a mouse.When you see my attempt don't laugh as its only my first,Looks a bit silly really well did it for experimental reasons really.
